Founding Engineer - AI Systems & Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious and impact-driven Founding Engineer as an initial hire within our engineering team. You will lead the productisation and deployment of the next generation of 3D automation systems. You will be responsible for transforming cutting-edge research prototypes into scalable, secure, production-grade infrastructure, whilst maintaining the highest standards of performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Working closely with AI Research Engineers and serving our product team, you'll architect and build the foundational systems that power our text-driven 3D scene generation platform, ensuring seamless integration from research to production.

Our current tech stack includes:

• Languages/Frameworks - Python, PyTorch, PydanticAI, C#

• Cloud provider - Azure, AWS

• Object storage - S3

• Document database - MongoDB

• Vector database - Weaviate

• REST APIs - FastAPI

• 3D engine - Unity

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure microservices for 3D scene generation pipelines with auto-scaling, load balancing, and failover capabilities.

• Implement comprehensive security frameworks including multi-tenant architectures, RBAC, API authentication, and data encryption.

• Build secure integration patterns for external APIs and AI services.

• Build robust MLOps infrastructure for model deployment, versioning, and A/B testing of generative AI systems.

• Increase observability, performance, and cost efficiency of existing systems.

Ideal qualifications

• STEM MSc/PhD - Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience (5+ years).

• Advanced Python proficiency - experience with modern Python development tools (e.g. FastAPI, Pydantic).

• Production AI/ML experience - hands-on experience deploying and scaling machine learning systems in production environments.

• Cloud-native expertise - deep proficiency with AWS and/or Azure, including serverless microservices, container orchestration, and distributed systems.

• DevOps exposure - expertise with Docker, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Security-first mindset - experience implementing enterprise-grade security, RBAC, and compliance frameworks.

• (Optional) Experience with large language models, RAG/semantic search, prompt engineering techniques, and transformer architectures.

• (Optional) Proficiency with computer vision - image embedding and multi-modal models, exposure to text-to-image models.
